The patch on the beret of the Israeli police depicts a Star of David, the center of which has a large letter “mem”, first letter of the word Mishtarah - Police. Around the star are olives leaves – ancient symbol of peace and good will. Olive leaves are also part of Israel’s national emblem and figure prominently in many Israeli motifs.
